1. Information only, not advice

The site gives general information about Australian schools and universities to help you research and compare them. It is not educational, financial, legal or other professional advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Do not rely on it as the only basis for a decision such as choosing a school, applying for a place or buying or renting a home.

2. Where the information comes from

Most school information is reproduced from open data published by Australian state and territory governments and their education departments and curriculum authorities, mostly under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licences. Some figures, such as ICSEA and enrolments where a state does not publish them, come from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). Rankings, bands and summaries are our own calculations or words. The data sources page lists each dataset, its publisher, its licence and the fields we use.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any government body, ACARA, curriculum authority, school or university.

3. Accuracy and currency

Published datasets often lag a school by a year or more, and enrolment rules, catchment boundaries, fees, programs and contact details change. Information on the site may therefore be incomplete, out of date or wrong, including because of errors in the source data or in how we process it. Always check anything that matters with the school, the relevant education department or the official source before you act on it.

If you find an error, please tell us. We check corrections against the source and update the site in a later build.

4. Rankings and comparisons

Rankings and bands order schools on a single published measure. They are positions, not grades, and they reflect the families a school serves as much as its teaching, which is why we show ICSEA beside results. Small cohorts can move a lot from year to year. In New South Wales we publish only what section 18A of the Education Act 1990 (NSW) allows.

5. Licences and reuse

Each underlying dataset remains subject to its own licence and attribution requirements, which are set out on the data sources page. If you reuse data you find here, you must follow the original publisher's licence and attribution terms, not these terms alone. ACARA material is reused under ACARA's terms, which restrict some uses.

The site's design, code, text we have written and our own calculations are owned by Consultin AI Pty Ltd. You may link to any page and quote short extracts with a link back to the page. Please do not copy the site wholesale, or scrape it in a way that places an unreasonable load on it.

6. Links to other websites

The site links to school, government and other third-party websites and may show maps from Google Maps or OpenStreetMap. We do not control those websites or services and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Your use of them is subject to their own terms.

7. No warranty

To the extent permitted by law, the site and its information are provided "as is" and "as available", and we give no warranty that the site will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted or free of errors or harmful components.

8. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage (including indirect or consequential loss, or loss of opportunity) arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its information. Where our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to supplying the relevant service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with its effective date, applies from that date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the courts that can hear appeals from them.
