About Avondale University
Avondale University is a small private university owned and operated within the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Its roots go back to 1892, when a predecessor college was established in Melbourne to prepare young people for the church's work in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. In 1897 the college moved to its present site at Cooranbong in New South Wales, where its first building was a sawmill erected on Dora Creek in 1895.
Avondale began preparing students for degrees in the 1950s through external programs and affiliations, and from 1974 it awarded its own degrees under state accreditation. Doctoral study has been offered since 2006. In July 2021 it became the first higher education provider in Australia to be recognised as a university under the national standards. Its campuses are at Cooranbong, in the Lake Macquarie area between Newcastle and the Central Coast, and at Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga.

World ranking history
Avondale University does not appear in the THE, ARWU, QS world rankings we track. These rankings mostly measure research volume and reputation, so smaller, specialist and teaching-focused universities are often not listed.
Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
