About CQUniversity Australia

CQUniversity is a public university with its home in Rockhampton, central Queensland. It began in 1967 as the Queensland Institute of Technology, Capricornia, and by 1974 it had started offering distance education, an early move that shaped its later reputation for flexible and online delivery. Additional campuses opened in regional Queensland centres through the late 1970s and 1980s.

It gained full university status in 1992 as Central Queensland University and later adopted its current name. On 1 July 2014 it merged with CQ TAFE, which made it Queensland's first dual-sector university, offering both vocational and higher education. Beyond its regional campuses in places such as Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay and Townsville, it also teaches in capital cities including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns, and it is a member of the Regional Universities Network.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
