About Flinders University
Flinders University is a public university in South Australia, named after the navigator Matthew Flinders. It was set up in 1966 as South Australia's second university, initially growing out of the University of Adelaide, with teaching starting that year under its first vice-chancellor, Peter Karmel.
The main campus is at Bedford Park in Adelaide's south, next to the Flinders Medical Centre. Other sites include Tonsley, the Adelaide city centre, Renmark in the Riverland, and locations in Alice Springs and Darwin in the Northern Territory. The university offers online study as well. It is known for medicine and health sciences, its drama program, which dates from 1967, archaeology, and research in areas such as marine and environmental science and engineering. Flinders is a member of the Innovative Research Universities network.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
