About La Trobe University
La Trobe University is a public university in Victoria, established by an Act of the Victorian Parliament in December 1964 and named after Charles La Trobe, the colony's first lieutenant-governor. It opened to its first students in 1967 on a large campus at Bundoora in Melbourne's north, which remains its principal site.
The university later widened its reach through mergers, absorbing the Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences in 1987, which became its health sciences faculty, and Bendigo College of Advanced Education and the Wodonga Institute of Tertiary Education in 1991. It now has regional campuses at Bendigo and Albury-Wodonga, smaller sites at Mildura and Shepparton, and city teaching locations in Melbourne and Sydney. It has a broad programme of arts, sciences, health and business studies and is a member of the Innovative Research Universities group.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
