About Queensland University of Technology
Queensland University of Technology, known as QUT, is a public university in Brisbane. It became a university in January 1989, when the Queensland Institute of Technology, established in 1965, was redesignated under Queensland legislation. Its technical education lineage extends back further, to the Central Technical College of 1914 at Gardens Point.
In 1990 it amalgamated with the Brisbane College of Advanced Education, a multi-campus institution strong in education, business, arts and social sciences, which broadened the range of courses. Today its two main campuses are Gardens Point, in the city centre, and Kelvin Grove, a few kilometres to the north-west. QUT has an applied, professionally oriented character, with strengths in engineering, creative industries, health, law and business.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
