About Torrens University Australia

Torrens University Australia is a private for-profit university founded in 2013 by bringing together a number of established education providers in business, health, design and hospitality. Its website notes that Strategic Education, Inc. became its owner in 2020, and that it is part of Torrens Global Education alongside Think Education, a dual-sector provider of vocational and higher education.

Its campuses are in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, plus the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, which hosts the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School. Its colleges include Billy Blue College of Design, which uses real industry briefs in teaching. Courses are designed around flexible study, links to employers and employment outcomes, and the university says it is the only Certified B Corporation university in Australia.

World ranking history

Torrens University Australia does not appear in the THE, ARWU, QS world rankings we track. These rankings mostly measure research volume and reputation, so smaller, specialist and teaching-focused universities are often not listed.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
