About University of Canberra

The University of Canberra is a public university in the Australian Capital Territory, with its main campus at Bruce in Canberra's Belconnen district. It grew out of the Canberra College of Advanced Education, which was established in 1967, and it gained university status in 1990. A foundation stone for the college site was unveiled in 1968.

The university describes itself as a university for the professions, with an emphasis on work placements, internships and clinical placements, and on employability. It is organised into five faculties and has applied research centres such as the Institute for Applied Ecology. As well as the Bruce campus, it lists teaching locations in Sydney and Queensland alongside international arrangements, and it has stayed closely tied to Canberra and the surrounding region.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
