About University of New England
The University of New England is a public university in Armidale, in the northern tablelands of New South Wales. It started in 1938 as New England University College, a college of the University of Sydney, and became an independent university in 1954. It was the first Australian university established outside a state capital.
The main campus is at Armidale, where a large residential college system is part of student life, and it includes the Newling campus, home to the New England Conservatorium of Music. There are smaller campuses at Tamworth and Taree, plus a Sydney presence in Parramatta. A large majority of its students study online or by distance, and it has a long tradition of external study. UNE is known for agriculture and rural science, especially animal genetics, as well as education, health, and peace studies, which it has taught since 1982. It is a member of the Regional Universities Network.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
