About University of Southern Queensland
The University of Southern Queensland, branded UniSQ since 2022, is a public university serving the Darling Downs and Greater Brisbane region. It began in 1967 as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Darling Downs), following a campaign by the local community, and gained university status in 1992. The Ipswich campus transferred to it from the University of Queensland in 2015.
The main campus is at Toowoomba, with further campuses at Ipswich and Springfield. It also operates the Mount Kent Observatory, a professional astronomical research site, and a field studies centre at Ravensbourne. Distance and online education has long been central to its model, reaching students across Australia and overseas. It teaches engineering, surveying and agricultural science, business, education, health and nursing, and creative arts. UniSQ is a founding member of the Regional Universities Network, formed in 2011, and has residential colleges at Toowoomba.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
