About the University of Western Australia
The University of Western Australia is a public research university in Perth and the oldest university in its state. It was created by an act of the state Parliament in 1911 after a royal commission, and admitted its first students in 1913 in central Perth. It moved to its present riverside site in Crawley in 1932. It is a member of the Group of Eight and is counted among the older sandstone universities.
The main campus is at Crawley, about five kilometres west of the city centre, with linked facilities at Nedlands and Claremont. A regional centre operates at Albany. The campus is known for its architecture, including Winthrop Hall and the New Fortune Theatre, and for the residential colleges along college row. UWA teaches across arts, science, engineering, health and medicine, law, business and agriculture, and takes part in the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research and the long-running Raine pregnancy cohort study.

Ranks as published; bands such as 301–350 are not exact places, and "=" marks a tie. "In Australia" is the position among Australian universities in the same edition; universities sharing a band or a tie share a position. Each ranking measures different things, mostly research, and none of them is combined here. *Our copy of QS 2027 covers ranks 1–300 only.
